Shaun Holmes
Shaun has been working with English National Ballet for many years & regularly plays for touring companies such as San Francisco, Cullberg & Dance theatre of Harlem. Recently he has been working with English National Opera & the Royal Ballet Company Covent Garden.
In musical theatre he was audition & rehearsal pianist on the Royal National Theatre production of Carousel choreographer Sir Kenneth Macmillan, Director Nicholas Hytner & also in the West End production of The Pyjama Game Directed by Simon Callow & choreographed by David Bintley.
In contemporary dance Shaun has long been associated with Rambert Dance & has accompanied numerous touring groups & small ensembles.
He constantly works abroad in Japan, Korea, Thailand & throughout Europe in particular in Italy where he worked with Aterballetto including on a national tour.
Shaun has been repetiteur to Dame Alicia Markova, Natasha Makarova & Viviana Durante.
In 2003 Shaun was commissioned to write a report on the Music Department of the Royal Academy of Dance which was well received.
His acclaimed CD. of music for ballet class made in collaboration with Jacquelin Barrett teacher to the graduate girls of the Royal Ballet School is in use throughout the ballet world.
In 2005 Shaun was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts.
Shaun Holmes is a free-lance pianist specialising in dance & the performing arts. Presently, he is the Musicians’ Schedule Co-ordinator at the London Studio Centre responsible for commissioning some 250 hours of work per week. He is also the longest serving pianist at Pineapple Dance Centre where he has worked with all the major teachers for the last 20 years
