Sara Accettura, Artistic Director

Sara Accettura was born in Bari (Italy), where she trained in ballet and modern dance since the age of 5 and achieved her dance Diplomas (Diploma for a Proficiency Course for dance teachers at I.D.A., Master in choreography at European Dance Alliance of Rome).

She started her dance career, winning several international awards and dancing for different organisations and events until she moved to London to train in contemporary dance at London Contemporary Dance School. In 2007 she graduated with a First Class Degree and after she worked with Diversions Dance Company of Wales as an apprentice, whilst attending a PG in Performance.

From September 2008 has worked as dancer for Cedar Dance Theatre Company, Diciembre Dance Group, Combination Dance Company, Leila Dance, Maddogs Dance Theatre, the British Fashion Awards, Rich Fulcher, the Secret Cinema of London, whilst teaching contemporary technique in England for the Young Saturday Classes at The Place and for the Mortlake School of Dance and  ballet classes at The Ballet School of Notting Hill.

In 2009 Sara achieved a Master of Arts in Performance at the London Contemporary Dance School.

In 2011 she moved back to Italy to fund Junior Dance Company Bari the first youth company in the south of Italy, where she works as the artistic director and resident choreographer. Meanwhile, she has thought contemporary dance for Villa Camilla (Bari), Ars (Adelfia), Scarpette Rosa (Molfetta), Coreutica (Giovinazzo), whilst dancing for Lucia Piquero, Yoshua Cienfuegos, Dana Raz, Mavin Khoo.

In 2013 Sara started running “Dance For All” a new collaboration with “Dalla Luna, professionisti per l’autismo” a dance project open to participants of all ages and abilities.

Sara is now an Assistant Lecturer for the School of Performing Arts Dance Studies Department at the University of Malta, co-director of Diciembre Dance Group, a faculty member of the summer school Dance Master Class in Itay and Spain, the artistic director of Junior Dance Company Bari and Malta, and still working as a freelance dancer, teacher and choreographer.
