Robert Brassel

Robert Brassel, American master teacher for Adult Ballet Classes, is a former principal dancer, choreographer and company director.

He was trained by Robert Joffrey and Maggie Black in New York City. He was a charter member of the City Center Joffrey Ballet after that he danced with American Ballet Theatre for four years before joining the London Festival Ballet and Ballet International in England. His twenty-five year performing career encompassed travel to thirty countries on five continents during which time he danced the great classical ballet repertoire with his wife and partner, ballerina Linda DiBona. Following their performing careers, they were co-directors of Ballet Virginia and its affiliated dance academy. He is the choreographer of fourteen ballets and three full length productions.

Following guest teacher positions at Harvard University and the Boston Ballet School, Mr. Brassel developed the health club industry’s first Adult Ballet Class in 1995 at the Boston Sports Club. His memoir, Always a Dancer, was published in 2006 and his second book, Ballet for Adults, the Physical and Psychological Benefits, was published in 2009. Mr. Brassel and Ms. DiBona are the parents of one son and reside on Boston’s North Shore.
